for teens:
Growing in Grace as a Teen.

So Nguyen

Teens,

Have you ever read 2 Peter 3:18: But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”

For teenagers, this means learning day by day what it looks like to follow Jesus. Growth in GRACE happens when we begin to understand God’s forgiveness, realizing that mistakes, struggles, and failures are opportunities to turn back to Christ rather than run away from Him. Instead of trying to be perfect, we learn to depend on the grace Jesus freely gives daily.

Hopefully we have parents and guardians willing to show us the way through everyday life but if they fall short, pray for their success in the grace and knowledge of Jesus as well.

Growth in KNOWLEDGE means getting to know Jesus more deeply. This happens through reading Scripture, praying, learning in church, and asking honest questions about faith and life. I attend an afterschool program called Dinner and Discipleship.  There are a team of adults who come in to feed us natural food as well as the Word of God.  It’s awesome!

As we face pressures from friends, school, and the world around us, our understanding of Christ begins to shape our choices, attitudes, and character. I hope we all pass these tests of character, strength and perseverance.

As we grow, Jesus slowly begins to live in us as much as we allow Him to.  He shows us His kindness, humility, courage, and love and expects us to share it with others. Watch as your faith becomes personal, not just something we hear on Sunday, but something we truly believe.

This growth brings glory to God—not just in the future, but now, as our young lives begin to shine for Him.

Appreciating our Savior,

Reflection questions

  • Where in your life do you feel the most pressure right now, school, friends, family, or something else, and how could bringing that struggle to Jesus change how you handle it?

  • When you make a mistake or fall short, do you tend to hide from God or turn toward Him for grace? What would it look like to trust His forgiveness more this week?

  • What helps you grow in your knowledge of Jesus right now? Reading the Bible, prayer, church, youth group, or mentors. Which of these could you strengthen?

  • What part of Jesus’ character do you most want to reflect right now, kindness, courage, humility, or love? Where could you practice that in your daily life?

One challenge

This week, choose one simple habit that helps you grow in your knowledge of Jesus. Spend five minutes each day reading a short passage of Scripture or praying honestly about your day. Ask Jesus to shape one choice you make at school, with friends, or online. At the end of the week, write down one way your attitude, response, or decision changed because you remembered to follow Him.
